was this because the cpu was lapped? Sometimes the cumulative update fails -- you see a message saying “Installation failed,” or something similar, followed by “Undoing changes.” When your system comes back to life an hour or two Forgot your password?
The steps there won’t fix the error, but at least you can get your machine back (usually).
Here is a thing I tried now: I switched the SB on the motherboard from Dual BIOS to Single BIOS and the computer no longer restarts, however there is no video nothing on the monitor shows up. but i really have nothing to plug in excapt for 1 HDD, 1CD/DVD RW, the ram, and just a 4870. i did not put any AS5 on the heatsink since i figured that little pea size thermal paste would eventually get spread by the heatsink sitting on top.

i took everything out of the case and just had the mb, with ram only. 2 cabels attached to the psu. After the restart, the computer wouldn't start. up and running now. When you start Windows, your computer may briefly display the blue startup.
