even though you have wasted your money and then have to deal with arrogant customer service, you can't swear. I am in the process of building a 2nd computer and from reading the XiFi thread, the problem may go away if I can get this Audigy 2 paired with a Fix your system instability first. I'm using XP on older Shuttle XPC. This didn't happen until the x-fi was installed a couple of weeks ago. When I uninstalled these 3 entries the crackling finally stopped, forever. and to boot, I'm a music producer, so its effecting my work!!!
It's a constant high pitched noise and sometimes I get a BSOD but everytime. I've had the very same problem with lockups and a high pirched noise, sometimes pulsing, but every time my computer locked up, it was because of an overheating CPU.
