Six years and over a quarter million views later and it is still helping people. Computer won't boot when 4pin CPU Power connector plugged in My new Mobo has 8-pin EATX12 V cpu plug but my PSU only has the 4pin? got lights for a second when pressing power button then they turn off..need help.. I did the following:

Soldered:

- PSON (Green) -> Ground (Black)

- 3.3VDCS (Brown) -> 3.3v Rail (Orange)

-------------------------------------------------------------

Removed Wires:

- Blue & Purple

-------------------------------------------------------------

I got all the same coloured wires and put them together, twisted them navigate to this website

In fact just go ahead and reset the BIOS, it might fix your problem (stranger things have happened). That will power just about any system with a single GPU.
