Dangerous VGA Temp?


solved my gpu and cpu temp is 81 and 53C respectively. I've opened the case and I can feel the fans. Like I said I had my old Xfire 4870s and they idled at 79c every day for 2 years without a fault.

The ATI 4800 might idle really hot, but idling I'll pull it apart and check dust levels when the paste arrives.

If your temps are good there, then you you can be pretty sure that games won't even get close to overheating your card. A GPU with plain old reference cooler could reach mid 90s on load (depends on the GPU and game). Some say a GPU is surely safe till it reaches around 90c, whereas others say the GPU gets damaged if it goes anywhere beyond 80c, and 70c is ideal for full I appreciate the answers! If it stays in the 70-80c range during those tests you're safe.If you are still nervous and want lower temps, you could look at an aftermarket cooler.
