Dell Latitude D400 Won't Network

Currently have just installed bitdefender and am running a full scan. Nortons, AOL (aaagghhhh!!!!) and some other useless junk from msconfig, which has reduced startup time slightly. I tried installing win 7 inside of win xp.

With some help of the guys in my local IRC channel we figured out that Intel cards have problems with 802.11n in Linux. Then restart in safe mode (keep tapping f8 during boot) and again go to device manager and display adapters. Catastrophe averted....
