Dell 9150 Not Supporting Dual Core
For a Dimension 9150 that would require trying to build a non-Dell motherboard into the casing. I forgot there were 2 types of Prescotts. Your hopes of getting anything recent within the last couple years (read: newest dual core or quad core) are out of the picture. If i were to purchase a Pentium D processor (the best i could find/afford) what kind of performance do you think i can get? Still it may be quite a lot of work to replace the motherboard yourself as I am not sure if it is easily removable from it's Dell casing.Still if you do dice (used with a sing. I found most hardware does not really pull what people think it does.
i'm currently stuck on a p4 3.2 GHz, and would like to upgrade to dual core, or quad core, but i'm not sure if my motherboard would be compatible with any CPU possibly, motherboard - extremely highly unlikely. OR(sorry bout the caps) alsmost as good? If you get into the architecture of a microprocessor, you'd realize that your hopes and dreams won't probably happen.

If its anything other than LGA 775 then right away you know it cant run dual/quad cores as that is the socket they use. Core 2 Duo is both a desktop and laptop CPU, and for all intents and purposes it is the successor to both. I got a 9600GT vid card and an extra 2GB of ram, a new 550W PSU (Corsair VX series works with the new ones) and I couldn't be happier.
Pentium D doesn't support Hyper-Threading. Again I have the same P4 3.2E (Prescott) it is a Socket478 and the Core Duo, Core2duo and Quad core are LGA775.
