Compaq Presario 900 Freezes
I m having problems with the personal hotspot on my iPhone or more specifically my laptop.? I too think that is somewhere a voltage problem and that is why the fan may not be working normal. show more Trying to be specific, I bought this Compaq Presario A900 laptop and have recently been trying to connect it to our house's wireless network (An Orange Livebox A278). It freezes before it even starts to load. Perhaps some metal is touching where it should not. If the BIOS is reset by draining, then it will often reboot. Lately, it locks up when it's on the charger, and then is fine (at least, so it seems) when on battery-power.
just sharing what I have tried in the hope it saves some issues for others. Can anybody give me a solution? When I startup the computer I get the screen saying the computer wasn't shut down properly before....do you want to start up in safe mode, etc. What shd I do? Even with the system restore my laptop still kept on crashing/freezing so I then did a complete re-installation of Windows 7.

Yet again, the laptop crashed. But now it fails to boot at all, unlike before when it would occasionally boot if it could initialize/spin up the CD rom drive. So once running it is fine... Any assistance with these issues would be greatly appreciated. Yes I have done a complete reinstall of Windows 7. And the memory passed with no probs. However, if I charge the battery until the charging light goes out, I can then remove the power supply and use the laptop for anywhere between 5-30 minutes before the battery

Not That I updated the bios (read about corrupted bios somewhere) Not That My latest attempt has been to bring in a slightly more heavy duty power supply and test that.
