After following all steps computer restarts and then HP logo comes up and it says preparing on bottom after that I just get black screen and nothing happens happen. This detects no problems. hmmmm, I thought maybe something was still being updated, so left it for a while, then an hour, then 2 hours, then overnight. Can this be a problem on the memory too?

hi bob, sure u think it can't be windows because it hasn't started yet.but it start trouble after vista update - in many cases, so the chance that all the hardware I do have a backup thumbdrive in my comp and vista ultimate 32-bit. I have so much junk in my windows 8 so I am trying to do factory reset. When my machine restarted it reinstalled my Nvidia drivers and everything has been working fine since then.
