Remember, my pc can "see" the drive a bit based on my initial post, but it can't boot up all the way to Windows. IDE is outdated and you may not be able to move it to your next motherboard. But I downoaded the "drive wizard" from seagate, installed and formatted the drive, and then continued to install xp without a problem. I also gave the CPU another dose of Arctic Silver after removing the entire fan/heatsink, just to be sure. Are you sure that you have not disabled the SATA ports?Check that the jumper is set on the correct two pins to enable the use of the SATA ports. Double click "My Computer" and open the CD folders.
